It was a typical Super Bowl Sunday afternoon. My husband & I planned to watch the game at home. My daughter had crafts and a painting to complete, during the game. We decided not to start the pre-game festivities on time. This pushed us back with watching the game, but we were watching for fun, no big deal in our eyes.
That is, until 8:24 of the second quarter-7 pm PST. My daughter looked up from her toys and said, "I want to sleep in my room. I want to sleep in my bed!" The last time she made this statement – she’d lay in her bed, for a few minutes; then, pull her blanket back into our bed. But, this felt different. It reminded of when she declared that she wanted to use the 'big potty' and never looked back. That was 1.22.14. So we did what any new parents would do. We paused the game, set up the monitors (video & audio) & plugged in the night light. She picked two books to read and we began the longest bedtime routine in history. We read stories, decided which dolls would share her bed, changed the blankets twice, sang songs and hit the lights. She rolled around until 11:30. By that time, I couldn’t keep one eye open. That night I watched the infamous pass at two a.m. – which was when my husband final got to the end of the game. The week following, she found her way back in our bed twice. We shortened the bedtime routine and made her bed softer by adding two blankets beneath the sheet. She still loves using the terms ‘my bed, my room’ – so much that it angered her on morning #3 when she woke up next to me. There is nothing better than hearing “I want to sleep in MY ROOM” and hearing little feet running down the hall. Super Bowl XLIX started the BIG DANCE. I refer to this transition from our room to hers. Hopefully, the dance simmers to a sleep induced yoga pose by March 1. It’s Las Vegas, I've gambled every transition – can’t stop now. How do you handle transitions in your home?

Batman & Batgirl are 2 & 4's current favorites! Those pictures were from Halloween and they have requested a Batman Batgirl birthday party. We are at less than a month until their 3rd & 5th birthdays! They were both born in March three days apart so I still throw a dual party for them. Luckily they don't mind. I love their relationship. Yesterday 4 was snuggled up with 2 "reading" to him. They melt my heart! This year we are tight on funds so the party will be at our home! I have started to assemble a pin board with some great ideas! Some of my favorite ideas are: I will post updates from the party planning process as I start to get everything organized! I will definitely be making it our own and there will be plenty of customization! I need to start on 4's tutu ASAP! :)
It has been an extremely long time since I've blogged anything. Things at our residence are crazier than normal. We are currently in a long drawn out legal custody nightmare that seems to be never ending these days. Some of my last blog posts were submitted as "evidence" and it honestly discouraged me from wanting to post anything. It made me feel violated that my husband's ex wife and her legal team are so desperate to find anything at all to make a case that they stooped to stalking the site I share with my sister to empower families.
