Generally, my sis and I plan fun parties for our children. This year she decided to take a trip for her 2 & 4 year olds. That left me planning a birthday party for the big 2. I started planning in January this year. My 14 year old niece chose the theme, Alice in Wonderland. I was torn between the Vintage Alice in Wonderland and a more colorful theme. Since I wanted to keep to a fun, toddler-esque tone, I chose a theme with ton of bright colors. Within a week, I ordered the Topsy Turvy theme decor and started researching the invitations. I used Michael's for additional touches, like the runner, doilies and tags pictured below. Etsy, E-Bay, and Amazon were the apps I searched daily. I found an amazing invitation on Etsy that set the tone. The invitation and decor were used to design the cake. Then, I had an incredible custom board made by another Etsy shop. It highlights her height, weight, favorite things and sayings. The location of the party was initially at a park. I scheduled a bounce house and Taco stand in February. Mid-March I found out the park doesn't allow bounce houses nor propane. I was LIVID for forty eight hours. Then, I remembered my indoor back up plan. I called for availability, went into the facility to determine if she liked it and booked the party all on the same day. Ironically, I had stalked the place and monitored their website since their opening (last August). My previous blog about our AWESOME indoor facility is exactly where we had her party. Biggest Tips for Success: 1. Start planning early. 2. Create a back-up plan. 3. Remain calm. We love her birthday parties because we are able to see our fellow parents, close friends and family. How do you celebrate your kids' birthdays?
