We are Mamas on the move, always searching for a way to infuse healthy options into our kids' diet. Thankfully, we received a complimentary box of Educational Snacks by Dick & Jane (Twitter: @DickandJane_Edu) to review with our pickiest eaters - 3 girl, 3 boy, 5 & 8 girls. The fact that the snacks are whole grain, nut free, and only 5g of sugar per serving is amazing - I needed to know that I could pass these bags to each child without sparking a ridiculous sugar attack. Did I mention my 3 year old is not interested in candy or heavily sugar based snacks? (Fingers crossed her position will follow her through high school.) But, I digress. When it comes to trying something new - I like to present our troop with a product in a group, once they are not fighting and seemingly in a good mood. The best time presented itself after the Peanuts Movie. Grinning from ear to ear, they were excited and ready to be our "testers". So, I handed the Bilingual snacks to the 3s, State/Capitals to 5 and the Presidents to 8 (to which she replied, "I'm learning Presidents in Social Studies!". They tore into the bags and immediately started describing each snack. I was surprised at the size of each piece. They were big enough to display the snack theme. My daughter enjoyed the "siesta" snack as we drove home - I crossed my fingers that nap time would be just as simple. Pros: Vanilla Flavor and theme appropriate to our 3-8 year old group. Serving size proved to be just enough - my tot ate them all. Size of each piece displayed the theme in clear manner. Cons: My kid refused to share. Usage: We used them for after school snacks, lunch boxes, and between soccer practice or gymnastics. Pick yours up today! Like most Mamas, we want the best for our troop. Since childhood, we’ve always been taught that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Outside of the assumed health benefits, there’s nothing like waking up to the smell of mom or dad working the stove and starting the day off with a full stomach. For the third addition of this summer food series we are focusing on delicious meals for breakfast time. I will be the first to admit that I might skip breakfast here and there, especially during the busy work week, but I am working on being a better example for my little one by making breakfast a priority in our household.
As I have mentioned before, my 18 month old can be a very picky eater and is not a fan of trying new foods. When she first started eating table food, she loved to pick at my scrambled eggs so much that sometimes I would barely have any left for myself! However, she currently despises eggs and expects to have Greek yogurt or mandarin oranges every morning for breakfast. Although these items can be good for her, I prefer for her to have a more diverse pallet to accommodate other healthier foods. So this momma has been doing a lot of recipe research to find healthy but tasty meals to adapt to her stubborn but still changing tastes. After talking to a few other experienced moms and searching Pinterest for ideas, I have created a list of breakfast recipes that will make even the pickiest eater happy. Banana Blueberry Parfait Breakfast Yogurt Banana Splits Muffin Tin Omelets Watermelon and Berry Fruit Salad French Toast Sticks Sweet Potato Hash Browns Scrambled Eggs with Ham Cheddar Mini Pancakes Oatmeal with Fruit Tie Dye Waffles I hope these recipes make breakfast time a little more fun and enjoyable for you and your children. Always remember, recipes can be modified and I for one believe in making meals cater to your little ones. As a parent, you know what your child likes or dislikes - so keep that in mind when planning their meals. I have recently discovered that introducing new food items with a food your child already likes seems to work a little better than serving it to them solo. So make your next breakfast healthy and memorable for the whole family. All recipes can be found on my Pinterest board. XoXo, Bee ![]() To say 'it gets hot in Las Vegas' would be an understatement. We are in the middle of an excessive heat warning - reaching 120 degrees (Fahrenheit) for days at a time. That being said, when we were chosen to receive the latest #influenstervoxbox - I could not be more excited! I'm always looking for a pleasant way to increase my water intake. In my house, we buy several types of water options- bottles for travel and workouts, individual gallons for my husband and a three gallon purified container to cook. It's safe to say, when it comes to water, I've got an opinion. The PUR Ultimate water filtration system is an 11 cup pitcher that fits into my refrigerator with ease. It removes 95% of Mercury and reduces Chlorine. These are key points that we look for in a filtration system; in addition to, how often it must be replaced. I have so many things to keep track, so when I noticed this pitcher has a filter change light - I was sold. Yes, the water tastes great, but the light is key. Hats off to the team that made this possible. We received this pitcher complimentary from #Influenster and my family gives it two thumbs up! Here are some benefits* to the PUR Ultimate Water Filtration System:
*Based on multiple uses: cooking, coffee, tea, ice cubes, refillable water bottles We, like most Moms, are constantly saying - eat your vegetables, don't be mean and drink more water. This system makes the pickiest of our kids, drink more; which is all I can ask. Eco-difference: products can be recycled, go to: www. purwater.com/recycle to learn more.
