My days have suddenly turned into a POTTY TRAINING Bootcamp.. Ideally, this transition will be complete this week. I read the the 3 Day Guide, googled serveral tips and spoke to my Mama Vets (aka Veteran Mamas).
To be quite honest, I didn't plan to start this process until after she turns two (April). The advice I've received is to let her decide when she is ready. Well SOMEthing came over her and last week - she woke up and said, "I want to POTTY". The next two days she began to unfasten diapers and on Friday she said,"I want big girl POTTY". The fact that she wakes with a dry diaper is in my favor, according to the POTTY TRAINING gurus. We went to Target yesterday and she picked the following: 1. Munchkin Arm & Hammer Natural Fit POTTY 2. Princess Pets panties I've read the importance of not using pull-ups but decided on a pack of Minnie Mouse ones (just in case). We came home unpacked and she immediately sat on the POTTY. We spent forty minutes talking about going POTTY. We also sang songs and read books. Yes, I've read that these tactics are not ideal, but I'm not going to make this experience negative. Luckily, she used the POTTY for the first time, last night. We danced and chanted, "go big girl, go big girl!". (This is the term we used to describe her transition from sippy cup.) Day ONE: Remember, this is not a transition for you. It is their time to grow and engage. Being focused, present and nice will be helpful to everyone involved. There was a moment when I thought- maybe this isn't her time. Then, she proved me absolutely wrong. Listen to your little one. you know their mannerisms. Use your gut to determine the best method. Lastly, don't be caught without the essentials. We stocked up on paper towels, disinfectant and baby wipes, laundry detergent and liquids. Sorry for the brevity but I must tackle the dishes, fold some clothes and cook dinner before she wakes in one hour.
