I have the pleasure of raising with a strong willed, highly intelligent, toddler. Not yet two, she can recognize 85% of the alphabet, counts 1-10 and knows 10 colors. In order for me to contain her tantrums and defiant moments. I had to remove myself as Mama and pretend to be a paid nanny. Here are my methods for dealing with tantrums: 1. Remember the child's age. 2. Recognize the triggers that ignite tantrums. 3. Anticipate length of tantrum. 4. Remain calm. The most important being #5. Once I realized that my frustration level determined the severity of her actions, I was able to put myself into a mode of peace. I refuse to fuel the fire. Do you have any suggestions for dealing with tantrums? What is your formula for success?
