Is Life a HIghway?

They say life is a highway. I'd compare mine to a roller-coaster ride. Never the less, I am thankful. Thankful to be a Mama of two I birthed and two amazing bonus kids. We have a blended family and share 3 out of 4 of the kids. We do the best we can to fit it all in. This year our kids are 4, 6, 9 and 13.

Currently, we reside in Las Vegas but soon we will be making a big move to the Sunshine State. 9 will be moving to California with her mom and we will be moving to be closer to 13. My husband is torn to have children on opposite coasts. We will make the best of it as we always do and will have many beach days in our future. My life now consists of packing our home and looking for a place to live. I am throwing things away and donating things at an alarming rate. In between packing and cleaning, I am determined to make sure 4 knows all his letters. His sister was so much easier and more interested at his age. He just isn't interested- no matter how exciting I try to make it.

I recently returned to work but  found myself at home again. With 4 and 6 being so small, it is very difficult to manage drop offs, pick ups, dinner, home work, and overcoming mommy guilt. There are only a few hours in a day that I could actually spend with them. For the time being the benefits of me being employed outweighed the benefits of me being home. Transitioning back into the house has been an adjustment. I miss my work friends and having quiet lunches alone but I am very excited for all the snuggles and kisses that I have here at home.

On top of all of that, we are getting over that beginning of the year sickness that kids seem to get every year once school starts. The one that your kids always seem to get over faster than you do. This year I've come to the conclusion that it is because I make them sit and rest while I serve them meals and snacks and keep them hydrated. All the while there is no one to make sure mom or dad rests or stays hydrated. The result being parents who stay sicker longer!

How is your school year so far? Has your family avoided the beginning of the year sickness?
